On 15 August 2026, The Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing young talent through its partnership with the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists, supporting the development of young innovators and future scientists across the district.
The Expo provided learners from Grades 4 to 12 with a platform to showcase their scientific projects, creativity, innovative ideas and problem-solving skills. It also encouraged young people to develop an interest in science, technology, engineering and related fields, while inspiring them to explore careers in these areas.
Delivering a message of support on behalf of CDM, MMC for Strategic Executive Management Services (SEMS), Cllr Solly Mahlatji, reaffirmed the Municipality’s commitment to initiatives that promote education, innovation and youth development.
Cllr Mahlatji encouraged learners to make full use of opportunities such as the Expo to demonstrate their talents, develop innovative solutions to challenges facing their communities and pursue careers that will contribute to the development of the country.
The programme also recognised two CDM officials for their longstanding contribution to the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists. Mr Brightly Nchabeleng, Young People and Children Coordinator, and Mr Matome Mafikeng, ISD Coordinator, were acknowledged for their years of dedicated service through the coordination and judging of the competition.
Through their continued involvement, the two officials have contributed their knowledge, expertise and time towards nurturing young scientists and strengthening the Expo within the district.
CDM believes that investing in young scientists today is an investment in a skilled, innovative and problem-solving generation capable of driving the future development of Capricorn District, Limpopo and South Africa.
Through its partnership with the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists, the Municipality continues to create opportunities for young people to learn, innovate, discover and excel.
