Capricorn District Municipality is hosting the week long 2021 Annual Thusong Week which started on Monday, 13 September 2021 and ending on the 17th September 2021. The opening of the Thusong Week was blessed by the Deputy Minister of Communication, Mme Pinkie Kekana. The opening of the event took place at Botlokwa Thusong Centres under the theme ” Working together we can do more to bring integrated government Services to the people”.
The Minister who was accompanied by Kgosi Machaka, Capricorn District and Molemole Local Municipality leadership emphasised that there should be a clear marketing plan and awareness of Thusong Service Centres.
“I’m aware of all challenges of Thusong Service Centres. We need to fix such challenges and continue to market them. We also congratulate Capricorn District Municipality for better coordination of your centres. We hope others can learn from you” she said.
The Annual Thusong Week takes place in conjunction with the Public Service Month, and is linked with other campaigns taking place during September, which include Heritage Month, Tourism Month and the Covid19 vaccination campaign.
Cdm received a recognition award and Batho Pele Coordinator Gelocia Mamabolo was also honored for excellent coordination of Thusong Service Centres in the district
The Thusong Service Centre Programme was conceptualized in 1999. The programme has become a cornerstone of the Government-wide Access Strategy aimed at redressing the imbalances of the past by taking services and information closer to the people. Currently, there are four (4) functional Thusong Service Centres (Eldorado in Blouberg, Botlokwa and Festus at Molemole and Moletjie Thusong Service Center) in the District.
