“In fitness sessions or in sports we learn a lot of humility, tolerance and respect. We know most of you are not full-time sportswomen but we are happy that you do realise the importance of coming together to contend with each other. And this is not only about competitiveness – it is also about having fun – about the enjoyment we get from exercises and information-sharing sessions. But I must highlight that the empowerment of women is not only a fitness or moral imperative, it’s an economic no-brainer. Allow me to pose a question for all women here. Are you willing to commit to actions to help other women? What will your commitment be? I want you to think about this. We all play a role in creating a world where every girl and every woman can fulfil her potential without barriers and prejudice. It’s not just about gender equality, it’s smart economics,” concluded Acting Executive Mayor.
