On Thursday, 18 June 2026, the Capricorn District Municipality (CDM), in partnership with the Blouberg Local Municipality, hosted a District Youth Dialogue at the Inveraan Multi-Purpose Centre.
The engagement brought together young people to deliberate on key issues affecting their lives, including economic empowerment, challenges faced by youth not in education, employment and training (NEET), entrepreneurship opportunities, as well as pressing social concerns such as HIV/AIDS, gender-based violence and femicide (GBV-F), substance abuse, and teenage pregnancy.
During the session, participants openly shared their experiences and challenges, highlighting the need for more targeted youth development interventions and sustainable economic opportunities within their communities.
Presenting the way forward, Cllr Makgato Machaba assured the youth that CDM remains committed to addressing the challenges facing young people and to creating meaningful opportunities that support a better and more inclusive future.
