The Capricorn District Municipality hosted the Disaster Risk Management School Competition on 14 May 2026 at Landmark Lodge, bringing together learners from primary and secondary schools across the district to promote disaster preparedness, prevention, and community safety awareness.
Learners from participating schools showcased presentations on various disaster risk management topics, demonstrating knowledge, creativity, and awareness of issues affecting communities.
Participating primary schools included Makgofela, Nkgoso, Magoshi, and Maribe, while high and secondary schools included Kgolouthwana, Piet N Aphane, Fedile, and Tshukutšwe.
The competition also provided learners with an opportunity to develop confidence, teamwork, and public speaking skills while encouraging a culture of safety and resilience among young people and communities. Winners of the competition will be officially announced on 04 June 2026.
