Capricorn District Municipality held a significant District Development Model (DDM) meeting on 04 April 2025 cahired by the Executive Mayor Cllr. Mamedupi Teffo at the Uhuru Lifestyle Emporium. Not only was it part of the regular quarterly meeting schedule, but it also marked the introduction of new DDM Champions, Deputy Minister of COGTA Dr Dickson Masemola, MEC for Treasury in Limpopo Kgabo Mahoai and the MEC for COGHSTA Basikopo Makamu. These brought new insights, leadership, and strategies to the development initiatives within the district.The DDM is a framework to foster integrated and sustainable development. The introduction of new champions signal a shift or new approaches in how these objectives will be pursued moving forward. “This DDM Meeting is not just another gathering—it is a call to action. A call to rise to the occasion and drive the change our people so desperately need,” said Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo officially opening the District Development Model meeting.
“To my fellow mayors, government and municipal representatives, we must seize this moment to deepen our commitment to the principles of good governance, accountability, and responsiveness. Our role as the sphere of government closest to the people is to translate these discussions into actionable solutions that will transform the lives of our residents,’ added Executive Mayor.
Addressing the attendees Dr Masemola said that he is looking forward to working with the municipalities and to having fruitful interactions with all stakeholders , he is committed to fostering an environment of cooperation for sustainable development.
His optimism about achieving positive results highlights the importance of collective effort in addressing local challenges.
This kind of leadership, focused on collaboration and open communication, can be a key factor in the success of the District Development Model (DDM) initiatives. It would be interesting to see how these interactions unfold and the kind of outcomes they produce for the Capricorn District.
The meeting was attended by Mayors of all the local municipalities in the district, and other stakeholders in the local government sector.
