CDM ETHICS COMMITTEE STRATEGIC PLANNING SESSION HELD

The Ethics, Rules, and Integrity Committee Working Session at Landmark Lodge saw Capricorn District Municipality intensify efforts to strengthen ethical governance. The session was held from 23-24 June 2025.
The Committee Coordinator responsible for the committee functions Ms Gabo Maleka presented the Declaration Policy, Draft Annual Performance Report, and Annual Report on Attendance which prompting productive discussions. The committee supported stricter monitoring of declarations, better integration of ethics into performance reporting, and stronger enforcement on poor meeting attendance.
Cllr Motolla shared an analysis of disciplinary proceedings, pointing to delays and inconsistent outcomes. Ethics chairpersons from the local municipalities also shared updates, noting concerns from communities and highlighting strong collaboration with Capricorn District Municipality in promoting ethical governance.
The session concluded with closing remarks from Cllr Masoga who was speaking on behalf of the council speaker Cllr Kholofelo Lehong. Masoga appreciated the committee for working well on the session and extending an invitation to committees in local municipalities. “This is to ensure that our performance remains relevant at all times and to strengthen the work of our committee,” said Masoga.
