The CIP was attended by only PR Councillors of Capricorn District Municipality. The Inductions taking place across all districts in the Limpopo Province were simultaneously officially addressed virtually by the MEC for COGHSTA Basikopo Makamu at 10h00.
The objectives of the Induction is to equip Councillors with necessary knowledge, skills, values and attitude to perform their public duties in an effective and efficient way, be responsive to community needs and aspirations, make decisions based on sound techniques and principles, and contribute to policy – setting at local government level.
Day one of the programme covered modules including Municipal Councilor as an ethical and skilled leader, policy and legislation. Taking Councillors through the learning philosophy, the facilitator highlighted that the success of the program required full participation and robust discussion amongst all participants. “As you execute your responsibilities as Councillors, you must know every experience is an opportunity to learn.”
