Capricorn District Municipality is hosting a Ward Committees Summit at the Ranch in Polokwane. The summit that was officially opened yesterday on 25 March 2018 will continue until Monday the 26th Matrch 2018. “It is indeed an honour for CDM to be interacting with all ward committee members since the first installment of the new Council of 2016 local government elections” said Speaker of Council Cllr Nakedi Lekganyane.
“This gathering symbolises our support and awareness of the importance of ward committees in matters of good governance. The summit will be sharing a lot of information around issues of water and sanitation, Eskom connections, and other Services delivery programmes. It is an exciting term in the life of our democratic local government as our ward committees are more diverse and representative than ever before. these widens the scope of deepening our democratic culture”, emphasized the Speaker.
The Speaker added that as CDM, they were urging all ward committees to take seriously the summit as a capacity programme that has been put together. “We hope this summit will be beneficial and should be given all the attention it deserves” concluded the Speaker.
