PLACEMENT OF THE 2023/2024 FINAL ANNUAL REPORT AND THE ASSOCIATED OVERSIGHT REPORT ON THE MUMICIPAL WEBSITE
On or about 24 January 2025, the 2023/2024 Annual report was tabled in Council in line with section 127(2) of the Municipal Finance Management Act, No. 56 of 2003, and the Council had referred it to the Municipal Public Accounts Committee for scrutiny.
Pursuant to the tabling thereof and the subsequent referral, the Municipal Public Accounts Committee convened both public consultations and public hearing on 06 March 2025 and 07 March 2025 respectively, to deal with the 2023/2024 Annual Report.
In accordance with the provisions of both section 121(1) read with section 129(1)(a) of the Municipal Finance Management Act, No. 56 of 2003, the Council has in its sitting on 24 March 2025 considered and subsequently adopted both the 2023/2024 Annual Report and the associated
Oversight Report. Moreover, it is worth mentioning that 2023/2024 Annual Report was approved without reservations. The Accounting Officer attended all the Council and Council Committee meetings where the 2023/2024 Annual Report was discussed and responded to all questions raised as per the expectation of section 129(2) of the Municipal Finance Management Act, No. 56 of 2003.
It is further confirmed that the Accounting Officer has, in conformity with section 129(2)(b) read with section 132(1)(a) and (b) of the Municipal Finance Management Act, No. 56 of
2003, submitted the 2023/2024 Annual Report, the associated Oversight Report and the associated Council Resolutions to the Auditor-General, Limpopo Provincial Treasury, Limpopo Department: Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements & Traditional Affairs and Limpopo Provincial Legislature. The submission was further made to the National Treasury.
The provisions of both section 75(1)(c) and 75(2), and section 129(3) of the Municipal Finance Management Act, No. 56 of 2003, read with Section 21A(1)(b) of the Municipal Systems Act, No.32 of 2000, place a burden on the Accounting Officer to make public information through the municipal website.
