ALERT : Water restrictions continues

ALERT : Water restrictions due to drought

RESIDENTS in Lepelle-Nkumpi are notified of water restrictions to prevent water shortages as a result of lack of rains and drought. This comes after the Ministry of Water and Sanitation and Lepelle Northern Water issued a warning about low dam water levels and drought that has put a strain on water supply.

In implementing these water restrictions, CDM will reduce the supply of portable water by 30% for domestic usage and by 55% and 100% for mining usage and agriculture respectively in Lepelle Nkumpi and surrounding areas such as Zebediela. The restrictions are with immediate effect and will be automatically be lifted as and when the situation improves. The effect of restriction will be seen with decreased water pressure until the target is achieved.

We therefore appeal to households in affected areas to limit water usage to immediate household needs such as drinking, cooking and bathing. If these restrictions are not adhered to, dams and reservoirs will run dry and households will experience severe water shortages.
