The District Golden Games for Older Persons brought energy, excitement and healthy competition to Seshego Stadium in Polokwane on 02 September 2026.
The games were organised by Capricorn District Municipality in partnership with the Limpopo Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, Polokwane Municipality and the Department of Social Development.
Older persons from Molemole, Blouberg, Polokwane and Lepelle-Nkumpi participated in various sporting activities, promoting healthy ageing, physical activity, social interaction and overall wellbeing.
Representing the Capricorn District Municipality Executive was MMC Makhura, who encouraged older persons to remain active and continue playing a meaningful role in their families and communities.
“Our older persons are the foundation of our communities. Their wisdom, experience and contribution remain invaluable,” said MMC Makhura.
The games also highlighted the importance of families and communities in respecting, protecting and caring for older persons.
