EXECUTIVE MAYOR MONITORED WATER AND SANITATION INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS IN BLOUBERG

On 08 July 2026, Capricorn District Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr Mamedupi Teffo, led a Mayoral Outreach Monitoring and Evaluation programme in the Blouberg Local Municipality to assess progress on key water and sanitation infrastructure projects funded through the Water Services Infrastructure Grant (WSIG).

The programme commenced with a project briefing at Blouberg Local Municipality before proceeding to the Dilaeneng Water Supply Project, where the Executive Mayor received progress updates on the implementation of the project. The project had been energised and was awaiting the resolution of an electricity overload matter with Eskom before its official handover to the community. The project is expected to be handed over within the coming weeks.

As part of the monitoring programme, the Executive Mayor also conducted a site inspection of the Senwabarwana Sewerage System, where municipal officials briefed her on recurring sewer blockages and spillages affecting the efficient operation of the system. She urged residents to refrain from disposing of foreign objects such as old clothes, household waste, stones and other materials into the sewer network, as these cause blockages, damage critical infrastructure and disrupt service delivery.

The monitoring programme concluded with a visit to the Inveraan A Water Supply Project, where progress was assessed. The project was awaiting, among other outstanding works, the installation of an elevated steel water tank before completion and commissioning. The project is scheduled for completion and handover in September 2026.

The site visits reaffirmed Capricorn District Municipality’s commitment to accelerating the delivery of sustainable water infrastructure and ensuring that communities have access to safe, reliable and quality water services. The Executive Mayor further emphasised that protecting municipal infrastructure is a shared responsibility and called on residents to work together with the municipality to safeguard public assets for the benefit of present and future generations.
