Learners at Kgadimo Secondary School in Mafefe gained valuable insight into weather, climate change, and disaster management during the World Meteorological Day WeatherSMART Outreach that was held on 27 March 2026 at Ga-Mampa village under the Lepelle Nkumpi Local Municipality.
The programme was led by the South African Weather Service (SAWS) in partnership with the Capricorn District Municipality Disaster Management. It exposed learners to weather patterns, their impact on daily life, and career opportunities in the sector.
Experts, including SAWS officials, delivered engaging presentations on weather forecasting, climate change, and disaster preparedness, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session.
The initiative formed part of ongoing efforts to build informed and resilient communities, with learners leaving inspired and better equipped for the future.
