The Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo embarked on a programme to introduce water project contractors to communities in Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipality. The heavy rain did not deter the municipality from proceeding with the day-long programme that started at Zebediela Moletlane Moshate.
The Executive Mayor briefed the Traditional Authority led by Mohumagadi Kekana and introduced the contractors who will be responsible for the Stocks Regional Water Scheme Contract A to E. The same process proceeded to Ga-Ledwaba with Kgoshi Ledwaba and Ntona Maja at Makotse.
As the rain continued to pour, the Executive Mayor further introduced the contractors to Motantanyane, Ga-Ledwaba and Makotse respectively. The Stocks Regional Water Scheme project scope includes the construction of pipelines, pump stations, concrete reservoirs, inlets and outlets, palisade fencing, access road, guard houses, at Ga-Ledwaba Village, HDPE pipe, booster pump station, command reservoirs, and installation of necessary fittings and specials, and more.
In total, the number of contractors handed over today for the Stocks Regional Water Scheme were five. The project has been divided into five contracts (A to E) with one consulting engineer namely Superior Quality Engineering & Technologies. The project will be implemented by the contractors namely Accelerated Growth Construction & Project Management (Contract A is worth R56.69m), Bilmond Construction (Contract B – R56.74m), Within Africa Construction (Contract C – R54.52m), Good Example Construction (Contract D – R49.22m) and VME Projects (Contract E – R50.20m).
The benefiting villages are Motantanyane, Ga-Ledwaba and Makotse. The Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo appealed to the contractors, consultant, Moshate and the community to work together to ensure the project is completed on time (12 December 2025). The handover programme took place on 12 November 2024 at Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipality.
