THE NEW MUNICIPAL MANAGER MEET CDM WORKERS

The new municipal manager of Capricorn District Municipality Mr Ramakuntwane Selepe met with CDM workers in a meet and greet session that took place on 06 and 07 July 2022. The meet and greet sessions were led by the Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo.

The sessions started with the labour union both SAMWU and IMATU before proceeding to workers at main office and other satellite offices. “I present to you members of Labour Unions the new Municipal Manager who has more than 20 years of experience. I hope you will work closely with him, advise him and also support him”. said Cllr Teffo.

The Executive Mayor together with the Speaker, Chief Whip, and MMC for Corporate Services led the political team in introducing the municipal manager to the staff at main office, Water Services, Fire & Emergency, and Municipal Health Services at satellite offices in Blouberg, Lepelle-Nkumpi and Molemole.

“When we met you in November 2012, we made promises and one of the promises was to make sure we fill in position of the municipal manager, and indeed we did that,” said the Cllr Teffo. The district has a function of water services, disaster, and emergency services which are rendered in our three local municipalities, Blouberg, Molemole and Lepelle-Nkumpi. Now that CDM has a municipal manager, there should be no delay in the implementation of projects and programs. “The accounting officer is here to ensure there’s smooth running of the administration. Let’s support him,” emphasised Cllr Teffo.

In his response, during meeting with the unions, the Municipal Manager stated areas that both parties will need to focus on. He further on, when addressing workers highlighted the issue around service delivery challenges, audit outcomes, vacant posts, revenue collection, working conditions, climate change, and other burning issues that the municipality is facing.

“If we work as a team, we will achieve. I’m here to serve. I’m here to work with you. I will need your support as I will respect and support you and the institution. I’m looking forward to working with you and I count on your support and guidance in your areas of expertise. The executive and myself need your cooperation in serving our communities to the best of our ability,” said Selepe.
