Seshego Hospital Thuthusela Center receive donation from Anglo American Polokwane Smelters

The Seshego Hospital Thuthusela Center received a donation in the form of food and other supplies from Anglo American Polokwane Smelters. The handing over of the donation took place on 29 July 2020 at Seshego Hospital in Seshego under Polokwane Muncipality.

Speaking at the center the Executive Mayor of Polokwane Cllr Thembi Nkadimeng appreciated the contribution made by Polokwane Smelters. “This is a very significant period as we celebrate all those who fought for the freedom we have today. This donation should find itself in the right hands not somewhere else. We need to take care of the future which belongs to our children. We can only do that if we do our part in taking care of what is in our hands now”, said Nkadimeng.

“Women must never tolerate to be abused in their life. We need to be activists of Gender Based Violence in every corner we are. We need to teach our children to stand up and speak against GBV and never be afraid to raise their voice”, said the Center Manager.

Dr Hopane from Seshego Hospital was deeply delighted with the donation for the center especially during this period when everyone is focusing on Covid-19.

Thuthusela center is a one stop center for victims of gender based violence. It has all professionals in one room providing services to victims such as social workers, police, health workers and prosecutors.

“We are an organization that is socially responsible. The issue of Covid-19 is not the responsibility of government only. We also have a role to play by contributing positively towards a good course. We are participating fully in the fight against Covid-19” .

“Part of our response to social corporate responsibility is to work with relevant departments to deal with of GBV, hence we are here at Seshego today. We really want to positively make a difference where we can”, said Sana Macha a from Polokwane Smelters.

“Today’s government language is one government, one plan, one budget. Anglo is partnering with us on various programs such as the Covid-19 training implemented with University of Pretoria for all health workers, purchasing of water tankers. Our partnership goes beyond the donation we see today”, said Nkadimeng.
