Access to reliable water services for residents of Schoongezicht Village has moved a step closer to becoming a reality following the official site handover for the Schoongezicht A and B and Gemark Water Supply Projects under Blouberg Local Municipality on 10 September 2026 at Schoongezicht Village, under Blouberg Local Municipality.
The handover was led by Capricorn District Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr Mamedupi Teffo, and attended by Blouberg Local Municipality Mayor, Cllr Maria Thamaga, and Kgoshigadi Matlala, demonstrating the commitment of district and local leadership to improving water service provision in the area.
Held at the Good News Bible Centre in Schoongezicht Village, the programme commenced with a briefing session involving municipal and traditional leadership, followed by the official site handover. The projects are aimed at strengthening water infrastructure and improving access to reliable and sustainable water services for communities in Schoongezicht A and B and Gemark.
Following the handover, Executive Mayor Teffo engaged with community members through the Mayoral Outreach Programme, providing residents with an opportunity to raise concerns, share their views and engage directly with the municipality on matters relating to the project and service delivery.
The initiative forms part of Capricorn District Municipality’s commitment to taking services closer to communities, strengthening public participation and ensuring that residents’ voices remain central to planning and service delivery, in line with the municipality’s commitment to #ReŠomaLeSetšhaba – We Work with the Community.
