Capricorn District Municipality attended the SALGA graduation ceremony for the 2022 Higher Certificate in Local Economic Development (LED) that took place at Fusion Boutique Hotel in Polokwane on 08 August 2023.
Representing the Executive Mayor, Cllr Solly Mahlatji who is the MMC for SEMS, said that this capacity-building programme is in line with the many LED initiatives of the Capricorn District Municipality, with which we invest and support traders to enable them to navigate the world of entrepreneurship.
Over 70 graduates consisting of Councillors and LED practitioners have received certificates which were presented by the Provincial SALGA Chairperson and MEC Monama. Two councillors from CDM also graduated from the programme namely MMC for LED, Cllr C Mamabolo and Cllr MD Thamane. The program was coordinated by University Johannesburg (UJ).
The ceremony was attended by MEC for LEDET, Mr Rodgers Monama, the Executive Mayor of Polokwane Municipality, Cllr John Mpe, Dr Marius Venter the Director of CENLED in UJ, Prof. Lungile Ntsalaze, the Executive Dean School for Business and Economics in UJ, Prof. Hinaunye Eita the HOD of School of Economics in UJ, Cllr Pule Shayi, the National Chairperson of Municipal Capabilities and Governance.
