MPAC VISIT BOLATJANE

The Municipal Public Accounts Committee chaired by Cllr Lisbeth Mothata, visited Groothoek Regional Scheme, Lebowakgomo Bulk Water Supply in Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipality on 06 December 2022. This is the same water scheme that was visited by the Executive Mayor a month ago to check progress. MPAC’s role is to oversee progress.
“We are here to oversee the project progess. This project went beyond planned period of 12 months with Covid-19 pandemic and delay in delivery of material reported as some of the challenges mentioned previously. We are however happy with the progress and believe the few challenges indicated will be addressed. Our people need to get water, that is our key concern”, said Mothata.
The R30,3 million project commenced on 13 September 2021, is 95% complete awaiting final testing and fencing of the reservoirs before official handing over by the Executive Mayor. The scope of work for the project includes the supply and installation of pipelines, electrification and equipping of seven boreholes, construction of concrete reservoir including access road, and fencing of the reservoir.
