MPAC conduct the last oversight project visit at Volop Water Supply project

The 15th of October 2021, marked the last oversight project visit of the current Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) as its term of office is coming to an end as of 31 October 2021.
The committee visited Volop Village Water Supply project at Volop village under Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipality. The project was being implemented in two phases of which phase one is completed.
Phase one scope of work included construction of UPVC pipe reticulation and pipe bulk line, ancillaries, control valves, equip and electrification of boreholes, installation of steel tank and electrification.
Phase two is the the supply and delivery of water treatment plant and concrete pallisade fence.
The overall project is 85% complete. The project commenced in February 2020, it however faced delays due to challenges such as the national lockdown, sourcing of package plant materials and electrification.
“We will include this project in the MPAC report that will be submitted to council outlining to the new committee how far we were and follow up visit that should take place for the project to start functioning,” said Cllr Paulina Makgato, MPAC Chairperson.
Makgato took the opportunity to thank all Councillors for the hard work they had put in to ensure the committee executed its responsibilities diligently.
