The Executive Mayor of CDM Cllr Mamedupi Teffo continued with the municipality’s campaign to motivate Grade 12 learners to work hard during their examination. On 27 October 2023, the Executive Mayor visited Nare Secondary School, to talk to the matric class of 2023 and motivate them to do well in their coming matric examination.
The matric 2023 examination commences on Monday, 30 October 2023, and will end on Wednesday, 06 December 2023.
A total of 128 Learners will sit for their examination at the school this year, out of this, 71 are girls and 57 are boys.
Speaking to the learners Cllr Mamedupi Teffo said “We don’t want you to do the mistakes that we did as your parents. If we were given another chance, we could do things differently.”
She added that they don’t want to put pressure on the learners, but they should know that they are the future, and it is their wish that their dreams come true. “Stay focused, stay away from social media, and other things that can distract you,’ continued the Executive Mayor.
Cllr. Teffo also committed to buying laptops to the 20 best-performing 2023 matric learners at the school.
The Top Achiever for Capricorn North District comes from this school. Lebogang Mkhabela a Grade 12 learner (Top Achiever) says though he feels overwhelmed, he is ready for the exams. “I don’t want to disappoint myself, my parents all the people who supported me,” said Mkhabela. After finishing her high school education Mkhabela wants to study for an MBChB (Gynecology) at the University of Stellenbosch.
Lebogang is the President of the Learner Representative Council at his school, and is also the President of Presidents of Learner Representative.Council in Capricorn North District. He also serve in the team leading the Quality Learning and Teaching Campaign in the circuit. Lebogang encouraged his fellow learners to forget about things that will not help them.
