The Executive Mayor, Cllr Mamedupi Teffo has sent a delegation led by the MMC for Infrastructure, Cllr Monica Mohale, to address the water sharing challenges at Makgato-Devrede villages in Blouberg Municipality.The delegation consists of political leadership of MMCs, Blouberg Councilors and administration led by the Municipal Manager Mr Ramakuntwane Selepe.
The delegation is to address the access of water source demarcated between the two villages that belong to two traditional authorities of Kgosi Makgato and Kgosi Kibi.
“The Devrede water project is experiencing a challenge of water source. The area is dry, and the only water source is at Ga-Makgato village.
We are here to make a plea to Moshate to allow us to source water from this side of the village to complete the Devrede water project since we can’t find the water source at Devrede village,” MMC Mohale explained.
The Makgato tribal council will first solicit community inputs before responding to the proposal. The visit took place on 05 September 2024.
