LAUNCH OF QHOBA iGBVF AT MANKWENG

“There is a need for men in this district to stand up and act against crime and Gender Based Violence. The crime statistics in Mankweng are embracing for me as a leader in this district, ” said Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo speaking at the launch of the Nqoba (conquer) iGBVF initiative in Mankweng.
“What worries us more as local government is that it is young people who are committing these crimes, and we are also worried that the majority of victims are women who should be attending schools,” added the Executive Mayor.
In her keynote address, Deputy Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Ms Nocawe Mafu said, “this area must move out of the top ten crime hot-spot in the country. This is a historic area with a University that has rich history and produced legends. We cannot be defeated by GBV”.
“I am not happy that i have to come and address you here in Mankweng because of issues of GBV that are prevalent in this area. We should be discussing positive and progressive matters that build this community and country at large. In my next visit here, i hope will gather under different circumstances for programmes that will uplift and build the community,” emphasised Deputy Minister.
Also in attendance were Limpopo Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, Moshate waga Dikgale, Mankweng SAPS, University of Limpopo, Ubukhosi Solutions, Vombat Team Members, Center for Mental Wellness and Leadership and other NGOs.  The launch was held on 06 November 2023 at Syferkuil Country Lodge, Mankweng under Polokwane Local Municipality.
