Investing in youth is a priority

“Investing in youth is a priority as government”, this was said by Cllr Jara Masubelele Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) at Capricorn District Municipality responsible for the Strategic Executive Management Services (SEMS) department during the Youth Social Market and Development Expo.

The Expo was held on 28 June 2019 at Jack Botes Park in Polokwane as part of activities organised by the district municipality in celebration of the youth month aimed at exposing youth to available job opportunities, skills development and bursary funding. This was a partnership move towards working together to build better lives for the young people in our district.

The main objectives of the Expo was to provide opportunities for young and aspiring entrepreneurs as part of creating  a platform for them to participate in the economy of the district, advance job creation opportunities, disseminate information to aspiring entrepreneurs on how they can access funding for establishing businesses, create a platform for young entrepreneurs to connect, network and share ideas with funders, investors, potential partners, clients and mentors.

The Expo was promoting fruitful rural entrepreneurial culture and empowered youth to initiate sustainable businesses. Information on opportunities available were offered by the National Youth Development Agency, Local Economic Development Agency and the Department of Labour.
