This year’s International Day of persons living with disabilities was held under the theme “Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future” at Inveraan Multipurpose Center under Blouberg Local Municipality on 05 December 2024. The event was led by the Department of Social Development MEC Florence Radzhilani who was also the Acting Premier.“Our provincial Treasury has developed a preferential strategy to enhance economic opportunities for entrepreneurs with disabilities. We urge entrepreneurs to collaborate with relevant entities to build capacity and seize opportunities.
A truly caring society is where every individual regardless of ability or disability is afforded equal rights, dignity and opportunity. As we commemorate this day, let us recommit ourselves to fostering a disability inclusive society.” Acting Premier Mme Florence Radzhilani said as she gave a keynote address. The Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo promised to ensure that the District Municipality and Local Municipalities becomes inclusive when employing and procuring as she gave vote of thanks.
Kgoshi Malebogo, Mayor of Blouberg Municipality Maria Thamaga, MEC for Sports, Arts and Culture Jerry Maseko, Mr Phillip Mahladisa from DPSA and people living with disabilities graced the event with their presence.
