IDDR COMMEMORATION AT BLOUBERG MALL

The International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDR) was commemorated on 03 October 2025 at Blouberg Mall in Senwabarwana in Senwabarwana Town under Blouberg Local Municipality. The event was hosted by Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) in partnership with Blouberg Municipality and various local government stakeholders.
Officials from CDM’s Fire and Rescue Services and Disaster Management units are conducting demonstrations to showcase their work and the equipment used in disaster response. The commemoration forms part of a district-wide roadshow, with similar activities planned across all four local municipalities.
Stakeholders present include Capricorn District Municipality, Blouberg Municipality, South African Social Security Agency, South African Police Service, Municipal Health Services, Independent Electoral Commission, and Environmental Management (Blouberg Municipality)
Cllr. Elizabeth Rahlana, MMC for Community Services, encouraged residents to take part in these initiatives, stressing that the information shared is vital during times of disaster. She also urged the public to keep CDM’s disaster hotline number—0800 666 777—on hand for emergencies.
