The Executive Mayor Cllr. Mamedupi Teffo handed over laptops to the five 2025 Matric Best-Performing Learners at Mathabatha Secondary School, Ramongoana, just outside Polokwane, on 27 January 2026. This is in recognition of outstanding academic achievement and perseverance. The gesture underscores the municipality’s commitment to supporting education and motivating learners to strive for excellence, even in challenging environments.Despite facing obstacles common to many public schools, including limited resources and socio-economic pressures, Mathabatha Secondary School has shown remarkable resilience. The school’s matric results tell a powerful story of progress, improving from a 58% pass rate in 2023 to 76% in 2024, and reaching an impressive 96.3% in 2025. These consistent gains prompted the Executive Mayor to honour top achievers with laptops, acknowledging both their hard work and the dedication of educators behind the success.
Addressing Learners, the Executive Mayor urged them to double their efforts and take their studies seriously, because their future is shaped by what they do today. “Choose your friends wisely, surround yourself with those who inspire growth, and embrace healthy competition that pushes you to work harder and aim higher. Believe in yourself, excellence is within your reach,” said the Executive Mayor.
