Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo joined the Young Women of Africa (YWOA) Miles for Change Summit, held under the theme βEnding GBVF One Step at a Time Raising Awareness, Restoring Dignity, and Empowering Survivors Through Collective Action.βAs the invited speaker, she emphasised the urgent need for united efforts to combat Gender-Based Violence and Femicide. Cllr Teffo praised the YWOA for empowering young women to lead activism and highlighted the importance of partnerships between government, communities, and civil society.
She reaffirmed Capricorn District Municipalityβs commitment to supporting survivor-focused programmes and strengthening outreach initiatives. The summit concluded with a strong call for collective action to build safer communities for women and girls. The summit took place from 15-16 November 2025.
