Executive Mayor of Capricorn District Municipality, Cllr Mamedupi Teffo, joined government leaders, community members, and women’s organisations in commemorating International Women’s Day at Ga-Sekororo Village in Maruleng Local Municipality.The event brought together women from different sectors of society to celebrate the achievements, resilience, and contributions of women in building stronger communities and advancing development.
As one of the invited dignitaries, Executive Mayor Teffo reaffirmed the importance of empowering women and promoting gender equality across all spheres of society. She emphasised that women continue to play a critical role in shaping families, communities, and the broader economy.
The celebration also highlighted the collective responsibility of society including men and young boys to support and respect women, while encouraging women to continue mentoring and guiding the next generation.
International Women’s Day serves as a global platform to recognise the progress made towards gender equality while also reflecting on the work that still needs to be done to ensure that women are fully empowered and protected. The celebration took place on 08 March 2026.
