The Executive Mayor of Capricorn District Municipality, Cllr Mamedupi Teffo, joined the District Disaster Management Team to assess the impact of recent severe weather conditions that caused disasters at Ga-Mochemi and Inveraan villages in Blouberg Local Municipality on 19 January 2026.The visit follows reports of households affected by heavy rains and thunderstorms, which prompted the District Disaster Management Team to conduct an initial assessment in the area on 18 January 2026.
The Executive Mayor’s oversight visit aimed to assess the extent of the damage and engage relevant stakeholders on appropriate interventions to support affected families.
Capricorn District Municipality remains committed to working with local structures to ensure coordinated disaster response and relief efforts for residents impacted by the natural disasters.
