The Executive Mayor of Capricorn District Municipality Cllr John Mpe visited the bereaved family of Marakalala in Sylwermyn Village in the Blouberg Local Municipality. The visit that took place on 20 May 2020 follows the devastating news of the brutal killing of their 14 year old girl Morongwa Marakalala who was found murdered after dissappearing from home for several days. The Executive Mayor was accompanied by the Mayor of Blouberg Municipality Cllr Solomon Pheedi and Mayor of Molemole Municipality Cllr Masilo Paya.
“Let’s allow the police to do their work and try to remain calm in this very difficult situation. We requested for the police to work tirelessly to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book. As a Municipality, we are here to assure you that we are with you during this difficult period. Your loss is also our loss as a district. This is a young life that was supposed to have contributed to the future development of our communities”, said Executive Mayor speaking to the Marakalala family.
“We are here to comfort you as a family and make our own contribution to ensure that our child is buried with dignity. We will be extending our helping hand to the family. We appeal that calm be returned to the community. The have met with the police and requested that they should leave no stone unturned to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book”, added the Executive Mayor.
