Executive Mayor of Capricorn District Municipality Cllr John Mpe has learnt with shock and deep sorrow, of the passing of a renowned legendary singer and songwriter, Steve Kekana, of Zebediela in Lepelle-Nkumpi.
“We pay tribute to a giant whose talent truly inspired many and changed the societal perception of people living with disability as equally capable individuals and not as objects of pity. Apart from entertaining us, Steve walked the corridors of legal fraternity and rose to great heights as an Advocate; and his extraordinary commitment to cement his place in the legal profession speaks volumes about his tenacious spirit, fortitude and determination to overcome his affliction and live his dream against all odds”.
“We have no doubt that Steve left an indelible mark in all our lives and his music will keep his presence locked in our hearts, as he rests in eternal peace”.
Mpe sends heart-felt condolences to his bereaved family, the music industry, academic and legal community and all residents of our district for the loss of such a human treasure. “May the soul of Steve Kekana rest in peace”.
The Executive Mayor also sends his condolences on the passing of an author and motivational speaker, Dr John Tibane. Tibane has facilitated a number of organisational strategic planning sessions for Capricorn District Municipality including the one that was held in early May 2021. In the last session he applauded the leadership for registering a clean audit outcome and retaining it.
