“As Capricorn District Municipality, we hold a firm belief that young people are the cornerstone of our socio-economic developmental agenda and to this effect, we will always ensure that they occupy their rightful place in our mission to change their lives,” said Member of Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Development Planning and Environmental Management Services (DPEMS) Cllr. Calvin Masoga.
Cllr. Masoga further said that It is encouraging for the district to note that despite the challenges that youth are facing, they still raise their hand to build their capacity, acquire skills and seize opportunities such as this Expo in pursuit of personal success.
Cllr. Masoga was speaking at a District Youth Economic Expo and GBV Awareness Campaign, held at Hwibi in Polokwane Municipality. The event was attended by the youth from across the district, officials from government, parastatals and councillors.
Organisations such as Thuthuzela Care Centre, South African Police Service, Limpopo Economic Development Agency, National Youth Development Agency, Father A Nation, South African National Institute for Crime Prevention and the Reintegration of Offenders, were also at the expo to share with the youth information on the work they do, and opportunities that they can tap into pertaining to issues of youth development and empowerment.
