Dept. of Education handover excellence awards

The Limpopo Department of Education Capricorn South District has handed over excellence awards to schools, circuits, educators and learners within the Capricorn South District. The ceremony took place on 08 April 2021 at The Ranch Hotel.

The excellence awards were for those who did well during the 2020 academic year in the district. Giving a word of appreciation to the educators and learners the Deputy Director General of the Education Department Dr Komane Mphahlele applauded all stake houlders involved for their sterling performance and encouraged them to work even harder the following years.

The District Director Tinyiko Nkuzana also took to the stage to thank the class of 2020 for their perfomance.

1. The best overall performer under the school category is Texila High School in the Pietersburg Circuit.
2.The best learner from the rural category is Thobeja NE from Marobathuta High School in the Mankweng Circuit.
3.The best learner in the urban category is Gani Ismail from Northern Muslim High School in the Pietersburg Circuit.

The top five circuits are:
1. Pietersburg Circuit – 81.8%
2. Mogodumo Circuit – 81.3%
3. Lepelle 2 Circuit – 75.8%
4. Gakotlou Circuit – 75.6%
5. Seshego Circuit – 75.4%

The most improved circuit is Lepelle 2, which was at 51.9% in 2019 and improved to 75.8% in 2020, which is a variance of 23.9%.

The event was also attended by Mokhudu Machaba who was also recognised for scooping the global teacher award. Machaba is from Ngwanamago Primary School under the Mogodumo Circuit.

CDM was amongst the stakeholders who attended the ceremony to give their support.
