Minister Motshekga visit Sekgosese West Circuit

Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga visited three schools in the Sekgosese West Circuit under the Capricorn District. The visit took place on 14 April 2021 in Botlokwa area under Molemole Local Municipality.

This was part of the Minister’s oversight work to visit two of the under performing schools in the district which is Makgato Secondary School and Rampo Secondary School. The Minister also met the following schools at Mamothibi Primary School; Mamothibi Primary School, Tladi Higher Primary School, Sekiti Primary School, Shapo Primary School, Letheba Secondary School and Kgarahara Secondary School. She met these schools at Mamothibi Primary School to check progress on the Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI).

In the under performing schools, the schools shared with the Minister their challenges such as in Makgato where they indicated that the school has been dysfunctional for some time and there was lack of discipline and absenteesim. At Rampo amongst the things they indicated was lack of discipline amongst educators and learners. The Minister called on the schools, their SGBs and Moshate to work together to make sure that performance in these schools improves.

With the BEEI programme, the Assistant Educators and the General School Assistants shared their experiences and progress in terms of their work. The programme was launched by President Cyril Ramaphosa as one of the initiative to alleviate the negative effect caused by corona virus in the society.

The Minister concluded her provincial visit to schools in the Mopani District on 15 April 2021..
