WITH municipalities now nearing the end of the council term, Capricorn district municipality is firing on all cylinders to complete planning for the term and compile a special suite of capital projects for 2015/16 for more accelerated delivery of services to communities.
This came out during the council meeting on Tuesday 31 March when the council approved the draft 2015/16 IDP and budget. The approval of the draft IDP pencils a roadmap towards the IDP consultation drive with various municipal stakeholders. Consultations will begin on 10 April to seek inputs from NGO’s, sector departments, traditional leaders, parastatals, and business community before the final IDP can be adopted in May this year.
The draft IDP will seek accelerate provision of services such as water, energy, sanitation, solid waste etc. It will also strengthen the relations with all sector departments in order to improve rural development; fight poverty, unemployment and inequalities. The IDP has set municipal objectives for the year ahead with a draft projection of over R1 billion budget.
