Let us support each other, collaborate, establish networks and join business forums; refer clients to one another, uplift those who look up to us; offer mentorships, and share information about opportunities that are out there, and most importantly, don’t miss our IDP meetings with businesses,” said Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo.The Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo was speaking to Women in Finance at the George Mahlakgane Financial Services (GMFS) Women’s Appreciation program held at Ashas Lifestyle House in Polokwane on 07 September 2024.
She added that, “As the Capricorn District Municipality, we rally behind every small and medium enterprise, and we leave no one behind because we know women entrepreneurs are capable of equally contributing to our local economic development and poverty reduction.”
The event was organised by the George Mahlakgane Financial Services (GMFS), a financial services company based in Polokwane with an all female staff component. The founder, George Mahlakgane, speaking to women in finance said, “I believe women have a lot to offer and are very capable of performing to beyond expected capacity. Often people ask me how i managed to work with all these women in my company? To me, i believe it is just a perception that has been perpetuated that leads to women being underestimated but i had seen for myself that working with women proved to be more beneficial than perceived,” said Mahlakgane.
