The Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) hosted a Council Awareness Campaign aimed at reinforcing ethical leadership, accountability, and integrity among councillors. The session, held at the municipality’s Council Chamber on 3 September 2025, formed part of CDM’s ongoing efforts to promote good governance and public trust.
The training provided councillors with an in-depth understanding of the Code of Conduct for Councillors and the Council Rules of Order. Presentations covered key topics, including the Reviewed Council Rules of Order, Compliance with the Code of Conduct, Team Operations, and the significance of the Anti-Fraud Hotline and whistle-blowing mechanisms.
Councillors were reminded of their duty to uphold transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct in all municipal operations. The initiative underscores CDM’s commitment to ensuring that council members conduct themselves in a manner that enhances service delivery and strengthens the municipality’s governance structures.
Municipal officials emphasized that adherence to the Code of Conduct and Rules of Order is not only a legislative obligation but also a cornerstone of effective governance. By fostering a culture of compliance and integrity, CDM aims to advance operational excellence and maintain a zero-tolerance approach to fraud and corruption.
