Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) swore in a new councillor on 13 April 2026, when Cllr. Tumi Maruma of the ANC officially took office. He replaced former councillor Lesiba Matsemela, who had resigned as both Whip of Council and PR Councillor in March 2026.
Cllr. Maruma hailed from Ward 33 in Dikgale under Polokwane Municipality. The Speaker of Council, Cllr. Kholofelo Lehong, witnessed the ceremony and formally welcomed him to Council.
Cllr. Maruma said he was humbled to have been given the responsibility to serve the people with determination, noting that he had previously been active in community service. He added that he would now be serving within government structures, which would enable him to directly deliver to the motive forces of the National Democratic Revolution.
