“The Capricorn District Municipality is a family fun affair, I know I will never win a marathon but the vibe it creates is magnificent. My kids are overjoyed to participate in this year’s marathon and we cannot wait for the 2020 edition”, this are some of the comments from excited runners that took part in the CDM 4-IN-I Marathon. The marathon took place on 16 February 2019 at the Polokwane Rugby Field, Polokwane.
The marathon, with prizes worth R150 000, attracted more than 2500 runners from across the district and beyond. The Executive Mayor Cllr John Mpe led the political leadership in the marathon joined by the Mayors of Molemole – Edward Paya, Blouberg – Maseka Pheedi and Lepelle-Nkumpi – Maria Ramakolo. Executive Mayor vowed during the launch to participate in the 10km race. “With this marathon we are building social cohesion and promoting a healthy lifestyle while at the same time runners can prepare for bigger marathons” added the Executive Mayor.
The marathon enabled runners to prepare and qualify for Two Oceans and Comrades marathons. The race was hosted in partnership with Polokwane Athletic Club, sponsored by BMW Legacy Polokwane.
