Capricorn scoop two awards

“We continue to live up to our vision as the ‘Home of Excellence’”, this was said by the Executive Mayor Cllr John Mpe, as he paraded the two awards received by the Capricorn District Municipality. The awards were presented at the special council meeting held on 19 February 2019 at CDM Council Chamber.

CDM scooped two awards at the Municipal Audit Awards – (1) for sustaining unqualified audit opinion and (2) 100% spending of Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG). The awards meant all budget that was allocated has been accounted for; there was no wasteful or fruitless expenditure and that no money was returned to National Treasury as a result of under-spending the Municipal Infrastructure Grant.

The district municipality received an unqualified audit opinion with findings for the 2017/18 financial year from the Auditor-General. This was the fifth consecutive unqualified audit opinion.  It was through hardwork that the municipality has for the fifth time, achieved this good audit performance.
