CDM, Lepelle-Nkumpi join Lepelle Northern Water to witness commissioning of Specon Pipeline Replacement Phase 2

CDM, Lepelle-Nkumpi joined Lepelle Northern Water at Mamaolo village to witness commissioning of Specon Pipeline Replacement Phase 2 project on 26 October 2021 at Mamaolo Village Ga-Mphahlele under Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipality. The project seek to address the water supply challenges experienced in some areas of the district in particular Lepelle-Nkumpi and Polokwane.
“We thank Lepelle Northern Water for inviting us to come and witness the wonderful work done on the pipeline. Water is life and when we say it, we mean it, without water there is no life, food, economic development and growth. In fact water is a catalyst for socio-economic development,” said Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo speaking on behalf of the Premier of Limpopo Chupu Mathabatha.
She added that Lepelle Northern Water has a mammoth task to ensure that the provision of water becomes consistent. They need protect supply, security and sustainability of water provision. “There is also a need to increase the number of skilled workers who specialize in water such as engineers and process controllers,” emphasized Executive Mayor.
The Executive Mayor highlighted the importance to also be responsible citizens and pay for water service especially businesses. She further added infrastructure vandalism and theft is also a nightmare and that has a negative impact on water projects. need to be honest and highlight the frustration of infrastructure vandalism and theft which has a negative impact on water projects.
She appealed to the community to take care of the infrastructure and report any vandalism as it was clear that those who do it were enemies of progress.
