CDM Hosts Eskom Expo for Young Scientists

CDM partnered with Eskom, University of Limpopo and Department of Education this past weekend for an Expo for Young Scientists. This Expo is an exposition, or science fair, where learners from grade 10 to 12 have a chance to show others their projects about their own scientific investigations. CDM hosted this exposition at Ngoako Ramathlodi Sports Complex on the 19th August 2017 from 9am in the morning.

 

CDM was represented by Cllr B. Kgare as the Acing Executive Mayor of the day. “We strongly support the Expo because we believe that innovation in science is critically important to finding lasting solutions to everyday and future challenges. This fair is also expression of vote of confidence in the potential of all of you to become appreciate the wonders of science and become ambitious do well in mathematics and science” said Cllr Kgare encouraging learners to think out of the box.

The fair also encourages excellence in those getaway subjects, add to knowledge and entrepreneurial possibilities while broadening scientific horizons. The expo’s programme also teaches the importance of team work, leadership skills and independent thinking as they are expected to work on projects as groups and in individual projects

 

 

At Expo, students discussed their work with judges, teachers and students from other schools, with parents and with other interested people. CDM issued special awards for three best students who presented solution around the use of electricity using local resources like cow dung, waste and salt.
