CDM host heritage celebration at Ga-Seakamela

CDM hosted a successful heritage celebration and Covid-19 awareness campaign on 03 September 2021 at Ga-Seakamela Moshate, Avon in Blouberg Local Municipality. The celebration was held under the theme, “traditional culture and customs as a vehicle to combat the spread of Covid-19”. The team was led by Cllr Elisa Kgatla and Speaker of Blouberg Cllr Maria Thamaga.

The event focused on ensuring the Traditional Authorities and Leaders continues to play a role in motivating the people to vaccinate. Pamphlets on Covid19, masks and sanitizers were distributed to the members of the community. The next heritage and health awareness campaigns will be hosted by Moshate wa Machaka in Molemole Municipality on the 10th September 2021.

Heritage Month is celebrated annually marking the nation’s diverse culture and heritage. Government calls on all South Africans to use Heritage Month to foster greater social cohesion, nation building and a shared national identity. The celebration of Heritage Month has created a conducive environment for all people to embrace and celebrate what was inherited or bequeathed them by their forebears.
