CDM continue with the DRM workshop at Ga-Monyebodi

On 08 September 2021, CDM continued with the Disaster Risk Management workshop at Ga-Monyebodi in Blouberg Local Municipality. The workshop covered presentations from Municipal Health services (MHS), Fire services, Environmental services and disaster management services.
MHS focused on the role of Municipal health in creation and support of healthy environment. As presented by Patience Mboweni, MHS do food sampling, water sampling and planting of moorepads and inspection of non-food handling facilities.
The presentation also dealt at length with Covid-19 summary covering cases, prevention, awareness campaigns and vaccination outreach programs.
Leading Fire Fighter Monyela presented on fire safety covering causes of fire, preventative measures and things to do in case of fire.
Environmental management services focused on environmental problems, compliance and enforcement, protected trees, alien species, illegal dumping, medical waste and safe use of the environment.
Disaster presentation focused on the impact of deforestation on climate change which causes hazards such as wildfires, mudslides, drought, flooding, soil erosion and risk reduction strategies.
The same workshop was held first at Ga-Mamabolo Moshate, in Polokwane Local Municipality on 07 September 2021. The workshop was joined by Polokwane Fire, Mankweng Traffic and Provincial Disaster Management team.
