On 24 May 2024, learners from schools from around the district were participating in the Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) for the Take a Girl/Boy Child to Work Day. The learners visited the internal departments of the municipality, and other external institutions such as the High Court, and Netcare Pholosho Hospital.Capricorn District Municipality hosted 36 learners to be allowed to learn about career choices and work environment within the district and other institutions exposing them to different career opportunities and choices. Capricorn District Municipality has over the past years been successfully hosting such initiatives aimed at empowering school learners. The campaign targeted Grade 10 to Grade 12 learners who are within the subjects stream of Humanities, Science and Commercials.
This initiative aims to expose the learners to various career opportunities available to them in strategic employment entities, within the district and to link the learners to potential educational sponsors. “We are pleased to host you,in this important program of Take a Girl/Boy child to work, which we know, you will find quite fulfilling because, the exposure that you are about to acquire will open your mind to many possibilities of the future,” said Cllr Caroline Mamabolo who was Acting Executive Mayor
