CDM HOLD DISTRICT WOMEN’S DIALOGUE

Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) held the District Women’s Dialogue at Matseke Community Hall in Botlokwa at Molemole Local Municipality on 11 August 2022.
“We are here as the municipality not to give speeches but to listen to women from our district. Solutions should come from you. We want you to tell us how you can contribute to the district development and how you can take the district foward”, said Executive Mayor, Cllr Mamedupi Teffo.
The dialogue saw women from political parties represented in the Council of CDM and other structures engaging on various issues including agriculture, economic development and food security, gender based violence and women empowerment.
Department like Agriculture and South African Local Government Association (SALGA) gave messages of support. The event was also attended by the department of women, children and people with disabilities and social development.
The topics discussed at the dialogue were:
  • Lack of support to agriculture projects, which promote food security and job creation
  • Small businesses initiatives are not fully supported, which led to high unemployment rate.
  • Effects of gender based violence and femicide in the society.
