CDM held a successful MPAC public participation session

Capricorn District Municipality held a successful MPAC public participation session on 03 March 2020 at Bolivia Lodge in Polokwane. The notice for the session was issued in terms of in terms of Section 21 (a) of the Municipal Systems Act No. 32 of 2000 for Public Participation on 2018/19 Draft Annual Report as well as other financial management and governance issues covering the period (2018/19 financial year).

The public participation session led by the Chairperson of Municipal Public Accounts Committee Cllr Paulina Makgato was consulting on the 2018/2019 Draft Annual Report which was presented to council on 30 January 2020 at CDM Council Chamber. The Annual Report is one of the responsibilities delegated to the MPAC in terms of section 59 of the Municipal Systems Act.

The main purpose of the MPAC is to excise oversight role over the executive functionaries of council and ensure good governance. Members of the community were afforded an opportunity to interrogate the report with clarity seeking questions.

The MPAC oversight report on the Draft 2018-2019 Annual Report will be tabled before the next council of Capricorn District Municipality. The meeting was also attended by MPAC Chairperson from other municipalities in the province, traditional leaders, and sector departments, ward committees, councillors, organised groups and community members.
