CDM commits investment of R117.5m on Water Projects in Blouberg

Capricorn District Municipality commits investment of R117.5m on Water Projects in Blouberg. This was said during the State of the District Address held on 09 April 2019 at Ditlou Sports Ground, Marobjane Ga-Seakamela in Blouberg Municipality.

The Executive Mayor of CDM Cllr John Mpe committed an estimated budget of R117.5 million that will be spend within the Blouberg Municipality on water projects. The bulk water supply and package plants projects will benefit communities in various villages. The announcement was welcomed by the Mayor of Blouberg Municipality Cllr Maseka Pheedi.

The water projects to be implemented in the Blouberg local municipality are Senwabarwana Bulk Water Supply to benefit 1344 households, (Ward 19), Burgerreght/ Motlana/ The Grange to benefit 687 households (all in Ward 13), Langlaagte (Rammutla)/ Vergelegen water project to benefit 415 households, (Ward 5) and Lethaleng, Puraspan (Ga Machaba) (all in Ward 11) Ext water supply project to benefit 2320 households.

Other water projects being implemented through Water Service Infrastructure Grant are in the following areas; Earlydawn (Ward 1), Mankgodi (Ward 21), Ngwanallela (Ward 22), Maokeng (Ward 8), Kromhoek GaMakgato (Ward 15), Nailana (Ward 8), Maokeng, Kromhoek (Ward 15), Manaka (Ward 9) and Ngwanallela (Ward 22).

“The progress on all these projects is between 77% and 90% and will benefit a total of 4872 households. Avon is part of WSIG programme in 2019/20 financial year in order to address water challenges in the area. Siting of boreholes has been done and Geohydrologist will start with actual drilling of identified boreholes. Currently there is water tankering that is augmenting the available water sources” emphasised Executive Mayor.
